Weekend trip to Edinburgh

We had a rare weekend when we didnt have anything planned so we decided to take a trip to Edinburgh. I have been here before but many years ago, my fiance had never been there before so we booked a hostel in the old town and return tickets with Megabus.

We arrive really early in the morning having decided to travel over night. The sun was shining and there was very few people around. We took a stroll to see what was around and saw that there was a museum which was free, but being so early it wasnt open so we would have to return later in the day.

We managed to track down a couple of health shops that had vegan food, this was very much needed as we were starving.

We located our hostel which was in a lovely area in the Old Town.

After a short break we decided to go back to the museum to see what they had to offer, and i for one wasn't disappointed didn't take that many pictures as i was too busy enjoying our visit. There was so much to see and do there and i would definitely visit again if ever back in Edinburgh. Here is the link for the museum so u can see for yourself how much there is to see:

After our visit we decided to take a walk around the Old Town and came across Greyfriars Bobby. This amazing little dog really was mans best friend.
You can find out more about him here:

Every day there are sticks left on Bobby's grave which is really lovely, but who puts them there??? nobody seems to know....

We then took a walk up to Edinburgh Castle, which from my point of view didn't really look like a castle but what do i know....

The views from the castle weren't too bad though.

On our way back to the hostel we heard some music and came across this piper, well it really wouldn't be Scotland without seeing a bagpipe player would it.

We started to get hungry so we headed for Hendersons Vegan restaurant.

We opted for their Soup of the Day, which was really yummy and very much needed.

.
I would highly recommend Hendersons to anyone visiting Edinburgh, the staff were so friendly and helpful.
you can view their website here:

On our last day we decided that we would visit Holyrood Park and climb Arthurs Seat as it was such a lovely day.

We made it to the top, so proud of our achievement.

The views made it all worth while.

You can find out more about Holyrood Park and Arthurs Seat here:

All in all it was a lovely break to Edinburgh although it was very short. We will be returning for longer at some point soon.

Thank you for viewing my blog, hope you enjoyed it as much as we enjoyed Edinburgh.

The Vegan Hippo

What an amazing place to visit. Not only is the food amazing but they are completely Vegan. On our recent visit we tried their new Sticks of Joy which was Jackfruit with mushrooms, pepper, aubergine, and onion with a side helping of relish. It was so yummy and had a small hint of spice, i could have eaten alot more of these. Nomnomnom. We then had spicy courgette burger. It was very nice with plenty of spice, wasn't really my thing as I'm not a courgette lover but it was still good. The Jackfruit burger was yummy and really filling but really messy as it didn't want to stay in the burger bun at all.....i would highly recommend giving this a go though, just make sure you have plenty of napkins. The bean burger with onion and garlic sauce was amazingly yummy and would defo recommend it to anyone. It tasted as good as it looks. For pudding we opted for a vanilla slice. I haven'...

Summer Festivals of 2017

For Me the summer isn't complete without a festival or two. Here's what we got up to in 2017 and all the amazing vegan places we found to eat. The first festival of the year and one of my favorites is Glastonbury which was at the end of June. Unlike 2016 with all the mud, Glasto' 2017 was a heatwave. It was so nice to be able to get around without getting stuck and worn out. There is so much to see and do at Glastonbury from bands, poets, acrobats and there is even a kids field filled with lots for them to do. There are also a lot of food stalls around with some offering vegan options, but there are some completely vegan caterers which made life so much easier. These include: Veggies of Nottingham Vegan Pyramid Club Mexicana Happi Maki The Fritter Shack (vegan options) Labonne Crepe (vegan options) No Bones Jones (vegan Options) Pan De Mania Wood Fired Pizza (vegan options) Gandhi's Flip-Flop (vegan Options) Goodness Gracious (vegan opti...

Trip to Cardiff

We decided to take a short trip to Cardiff for a couple of reasons, one to check out what's on offer there for vegans and also to see a concert at St Davids Hall. We arrived to really nice weather, which was nice to see. Locating our hostel was really easy as it was centrally located on the high street in Cardiff City Centre.  Was a lovely hostel and very welcoming and very homely. We decided to take a walk to Anna-Loka which is a 30 minute walk from the city centre. Anna-Loka is 100% vegan cafĂ©, their menu was full of so much yummy choice but we opted for all day breakfast to start with and a side order of chips. This was followed by a apple and beetroot cake and a mango and coconut cake.  My fiance had a black forest hot chocolate too. We left feeling really full. On our second day in Cardiff we decided to get the local bus to Penarth (the local buses do an all day ticket for £3.50 to travel all over the Cardiff area, which is reall...
